From the early 19th century onwards, a significant body of piano pieces and songs featuring Japanese themes began to be published in Western countries in the form of single-sheet popular music (sheet music) and collections of musical scores. This digital archive presents musical scores from the 19th to the early 20th century, drawn from the music materials held by the Nichibunken.
